I know i cant drink in moderation
I know this. I don't even really want a beer but there are 7 in my fridge. I can't drink them. My husband isn't as bad as me with drinking (he has another addiction) and I will leave them for him. He is washing the truck. I am trying to get by do I'm about to go to donate done stuff and then plan dinner. I know if I have one, I'll have ten more.
It's good you know this.
Is it possible for your husband to take them out of the house? It's a good idea to not be left alone with beer in the fridge in early recovery. If he knows it's difficult for you, would he be wiling to help by not bringing it in the house for a few months until you are more secure?

Yes I think he would. I'm going to ask him to put them in the garage and not drink around me.
Funny thing just happened, I'm on my way back to the house from goodwill and I ran out of gas! Lol, so I'm smoking the only cig I have. I'll quit smoking later. Need to be sober first. No worries, hubby is on the way.

So I'm back home after getting gas and spending my last $5 for chicken to have at dinner. I hope you guys don't mind if I have to post every little thing I'm doing tonight so I don't drink. It's 4 pm and I'm sober. A rare occasion for Saturday and Sunday.

I think the idea that someday in the future I will drink like a normal person is a huge block to my staying sober. I have this idea that if I have x amount of sober time then that proves I'm not an alcoholic...even though my last two relapses landed me in the hospital. I know I can't have any alcohol in my house. That would be too tempting.
Stop that thought in its tracks when it comes.
That is your addiction/obsession talking, that is not YOU.
YOU made a decision to stop drinking. Your addiction is that lower part of you which is fighting. It is a physical as well as psychological fight.
Don't pick up that first drink - no matter what your crazy-addict-brain is saying. We cannot have one. It's never one.

Jill, if you have a minute you may want to read about the AV (that voice) Secular Connections - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information. This helped me a lot in the beginning.
