New to this

I have been sober for around eight months now after many years of very hard drinking .several times stopping and several times relapsing each of them getting worse every time .I was in a very dark place during these episodes.I finally went to a rehab facility eight months ago and received the knowledge and tools to get and hopefully stay sober one day at a time I have to admit some days are harder than others I just tell myself this shall to pass. Throughout the years of relapsing I got extremely depressed and at one point in time suicidal and hospitalized . Along with therapy and medication I'm happy to say that I'm stable at this point. I can think clearly again and make better decisions. I'm on lots of medication that I would like to ease off of. Seroqueol 400 and wellbutrine300 are the main ones . I don't like the side effects that I'm reading on line about the seroquel. I'm going to see my Dr Monday morning.im just wondering if anyone else has taken medication of this kind and for how long

Thanks
Trevor

I've no intentions of causing you alarm, but I'd suggest using caution and taking care to monitor yourself closely especially the Seroquel. My mom had a history of overdoses and hospitals stays. She was put on Seroquel and things didn't end well. She'd only been on Seroquel a few weeks. Please keep the lines of communication open with your doctor. Best wishes.

Hello and welcome.
Medications effect people differently. I know a few people on Serquel and have had good results from it. It's an atypical anti-psychotic, but is often prescribed for off label problems. So I can see if you were suicidal why your doctor would use it.

Congratulations on your sober time. That's great. Keep it up, one day at a time. You're a miracle in the making

Yes this is a very powerful drug.i do not abuse it at all. An over dose can be done very easy and will cause a very deep coma. It did have its place when I needed it but will consult my Dr on Monday about weaning off of it.

thanks for your support. Some people just don't realize how much effort some days are and how we feel even after trying to explain .

I've been on Seroquel at 400mg a day for over 2 years now. i take other psych meds as well. the Seroquel regulates my mood and helps me sleep.

so far, all has been fine. i'm nearly 10 months sober, but i'm not planning on coming off my meds any time soon and my doctors agree.

i hope you find what works for you.

edit: and congratulations on your sober time!
