Great Company Who Knows About Alcoholism

So today I was shown how awesome and nice the owners of my company are.

We had an all company meeting today. If you remember, I told one of the owners I was an alcoholic and he was totally cool about it.

Well today he came up to me about an hour before the alcohol came out that there would be some drinking. He told me to hit the road early if I couldn't be around it. He even paid me for it.

It just goes to show you that people CAN be willing to help you out.
In other news, I have felt depressed all day today and have had really strong cravings. Not sure why as it's usually still "easy" (whatever the hell that means) until after a month, but this time it's been a pretty rough go at it.

There's no way I would pick up though. I'm home alone with my son, and there's no addiction that would put my son at risk.

Justin, I agree thats really cool. Good for you.
Just one little caution - he is still the boss and this is still your job. Be prudent in how much you share.

Agreed. I didn't go over all the horrible experiences I had. He just knows that "I have problems with alcohol" and that I don't want to be around it.

I literally walked into his office like a month ago and told him "I respect the company culture, but If I'm forced to be around it, I'm going to have to find a different job."

He told me the only thing he regretted was that I didn't tell him sooner. Class act guy.

Thanks for sharing Justin. It just goes to show that people actually "get it" and not everyone looks down there noses at people like us. Fight those cravings and push on with your sober path!

Winning! You got to enjoy our very good weather and spend time with your kid and they got drunk. Really a no-brainer eh?
