Checking In at 6 days...
Just wanted to check in. I'm 6 days sober today... Unbelievable....
It took me a few days to get rid of the shakes. They were so bad, and I wanted a drink so bad because I knew they would stop..... but, then start again. So, I didn't.
After a few days, I started to feel so much better physically, and my thought process became clearer. Yesterday, I talked with my husband and told him that I'm sure I'm an alcoholic and had asked for help on SR. I told him how much I was drinking and how I was hiding it from him. He was loving and supportive and said, "Well, I don't know much, but I know that when there are empty bottles in the car, something is wrong."
I've had some close calls over the last week. Here's how it went:
"Hmmmm, there's a grocery store."
"I could buy a bottle."
"I could just drink one glass."
"Maybe I should stop and buy a bottle."
"I should buy two so I have some for the weekend."
Well, there it is.... Yep, I'm powerless over alcohol....

Well done Grace, six days is awesome !
You will have all those drinking thoughts, but you know better than to listen to them.
Eventually they will fade.
I'm so glad you have a supportive husband, and that you've spoken to him. You have him on your side and that's a big bonus.
