Keep the Faith, Guys

I'm not from the AA side of this board, I'm from the Friends and Family forum. I have great admiration for those of you who are fighting this terrible battle toward sobriety, and deeply and profoundly support you and hope that you continue, day by day, to stay sober, or start today.

If you are alone or lonely today, take with you the most heart-felt wishes of those of us who have lived with alcoholism and profoundly wish you success. We're here with you, rooting for you, supporting you, even if you can't see or hear us. You are not alone, even if no one is in the room with you today or through the holidays.

Your AV is the equivalent of Scrooge, and who among us wants to let Scrooge win?

What is waiting for you is your future, and us with you. So keep the faith today, and tomorrow, again and again, and by next Christmas, you'll be in a room and celebrating Christmas and sobriety with those love who love you. And there will be people there who truly do love you. We want you, we want you back.

And I, too appreciate all your support. I lost my husband to alcholism and abuse several years ago, and with it went the 20 years of love and home and family we had had.

It has taken me two and a half years to now, at 64, be genuinely happy on my own on Christmas, and I wanted to share that with you.

All is different for me, now, but I am happy.

No matter what the reason, we all can embrace what is good about today and invite to us a happy fulfilling future.

ShootingStar, I am very sorry for your loss. Alcoholism is a horrible disease.

But, we know, that people can survive and live happy and joyful lives.

Anna, thank you for your comfort. But I didn't want this to be about me and my loss.

It is about potential and future and love, and that is what I hope for all on this Board, no matter what forum. Because that's what we have, what we all have, and it makes me grateful.

Depends on how you view it. This "battle" almost killed me. The fact that I'm still here and well makes it the best battle of my life. Happy Christmas.

We want you, we want you back.

This made me cry, it was what my family told me a couple of months ago, and it has made the difference. Thank you for the help

Thought this deserved a bump today.

Thank you, ShootingStar, for offering us so much hope & encouragement in the midst of our own recoveries. The message "You're not alone" is the most healing/hopeful one of all-time in my opinion.

Wishing you a beautiful 2015.
