Early days
Hi
My name's Sue. I'm 46 and live in the East Midlands, UK with my son.
I've never been 'good' with drink (my granddad was a teetotaller but my dad was an alcoholic so my knowledge of drink was extremes). Once I have a drink I struggle to stop but in the 'old days' there had to be a reason to go for a drink.
It must be roughly Aug 2013 alcohol become more intrusive. I've never driven after drinking so if I've had something important on I've not drunk but if something wasn't important I would make an excuse to get out of it. I also have finally taken the blinkers off and realised how many temp job placements I've pulled out of so I could drink. I spent a holiday in Europe in August plastered - wine was 1 euro a glass!
Besides that holiday my son doesn't know I've been drunk - benefit of having acted in the past, I can act sober - just a bit flaky and always tired!!!
I have decided this is it ...... things will change! I got home from collecting my son from a school event at 10 pm on Saturday night and polished off 1.5 bottles of wine before bed. Sunday I finished off the half bottle and went to the shop and bought two more bottles - drunk one, other one was in cupboard.
I went to bed around 11pm and woke up about 1.30 am. That was when I decided I had to stop so went to the kitchen and poured the other bottle away.
Yesterday I went to the doctor to get a referral for counselling. Sorry for TMI but while there my bowels decided to play up, badly. Fortunately the nurse is the only one aware how much but the shame was awful.
So, at this moment in time it is around 48 hours since my last drink. I am feeling agitated and totally exhausted. But also a little excited that I 'may' be getting my life back.
Tomorrow I start a 2 week temp evening job which is 30 mins drive away. This is only going to 'work' if I don't drink. I'm really hoping this exhaustion wears off or I manage to work through it.
Anyway, that's me. I apologise for any spelling mistakes etc as I'm on my phone and have fat fingers!! I also apologise for any delay in posting more as I find it easier on the PC but too tired to go and stuck it on !!

SP...if your still feeling a little aggitated...Chocolate worked for me. Dont know what or why...it just works. Has a calming effect.
I would eat a lot of it just before bedtime though. You're probably having some sleep difficulties as it is. This too shall pass. Just look forward to tomorrow morning, waking sober and not hungover !
It just gets better from here...
