Cutting Groups of People out of your Life?
I had to remove a whole group of "friends" from my life, this actually happened several years ago. I feel kind of guilty about that but, I know they would destroy my sobriety. How do I get to feel okay about that?
For me I needed to accept that Sobriety was the most important thing in my life, and so those choices had to be made, in the same way people put their families/kids first, Sobriety came into the same category for me in terms of importance!!
I also take a look at what Sobriety has done for my life, how far I've come, everything I have achieved, and when I weigh all of that up, cutting a few people out of my life wasn't a bad thing!!
We gotta do what we gotta do to protect our Sobriety!!

Hey BlueNails,
What I found when I stopped is that I had to differentiate between my 'friends' and people who were really only my drinking friends. What I slowly discovered as time went on, is that most of my 'friends' were nothing more than drinking buddies. At the end of the day, that's all we really ever did together, so there was no real friendship to speak of.
Better safe then sorry, even with some of the guilt that you might be feeling.
