Just read this on the news

This is quite scary! It's a reminder of how bad alcohol is.

I think alcohol almost gets this blind eye shown to it as it's legal, people talk and fear the illegal drugs out there, we teach our kids about the dangers of illegal drugs, but alcohol remains under the radar in society as it's legal!!

But that doesn't mean it is in anyway less destructive, it is a serious business regardless!!

No it doesn't. I'm actually glad alcohol is being talked about like this. It's a general reminder.

The scandal a few years back in the UK was that David Nutt was a government advisor and was sacked when he voiced his views that alcohol and cigarettes were as or more dangerous than some current illegal drugs, he was seen as contradicting government policy and so was removed and silenced!!

The government just didn't want to know, very sad!!

They really are. I probably live in the wrong city being an alcoholic. St. Louis has more bars than churches it seems. And of course a large beer company.

Hell I work at the wrong place. I have a desk job, but the company is totally fine with drinking during work hours. And of course there's a bar on the first floor of building. . .

As someone who has taken more than half of the drugs on that list a little perspective seems in order.

Albert Hofman not only invented (and ingested a lot of) LSD, but he lived to be over 100 years old AND he said he drank wine DAILY.

So, alcohol certainly takes it's toll on society as a whole, but it's not a dangerous drug for those who drink a glass of wine a day. The problem is so many of us can't stop at two.

Same goes for coke, meth, smack, and a lot of other highly dangerous drugs out there. It's just a good thing that there are fewer people out there using them. People drop dead on that stuff.

Mushrooms and acid are low on the list only because they are less popular, and because a few days of tripping and most people want a vacation from their little vacation. It's also difficult to track trips to the psych ward for mental breakdowns related to psychedelics. What caused it? Well, he was crazy, anyway...

Anything smoked is freakin' bad for you...no question.

The government do NOT care about your well-being. That is incredibly obvious and there are few things that make that clearer than their position on alcohol and tobacco.
