some progress
Hi guys and gals - hope you all doing ok
just an update - a local AA member rang me last night after I spoke to the national helpline and we met for a coffee this morning
had a good chat and he is taking me to an AA meeting tonight and he says I can call him anytime day or night - almost cried
had some anxiety but manageable - took a benzo with me in case but still got it
Am deadly serious this time - in more ways than one
thanks for reading and will let you know how meeting goes tomorrow - whether you like it or not
sorry for all recent posts - don't mean to flood the site with my misery
thanks for reading
Mike

if they can get and stay sober so can I
you have taken a big step forward
I would bet money that you will say after the meeting
AA was not bad
actually I enjoyed listening to the recovered drunks
some of their stories reminded me of me
if they can get and stay sober so can I
meeting others in AA who have been down the same dark drunken road as I
and yet are now sober
has given me and does give me great hope for my sober future

Good for you! You are taking steps in recovery.
Please do update us and post as often as you need. I don’t think anyone here is bothered by someone that is reaching out for help.
Take care and let us know how it went!

Hi Mike. Thanks for letting us know what's going on.
You sound hopeful and positive. I think it helps to discuss things here - believe me, we are happy to hear all about it. Do let us know how the meeting goes - we care.

thanks all
So update - went to AA meeting and Montainman you were spot on .....was great
Bit confusing as it was a reading group and was a bit unsure but they went back to step 1 especially for me which I thought was lovely
Made very welcome by all
Someone did a share and I might as well have written it ......actually belly laughed at one point
WILL be going back and to others
Going to work soon for first time since hospitalised so bit anxious but it's time to get back in the real world and face up to my responsibilities
Have a good day all thanks for reading and stay safe you all

Hi. Good for you. It’s a good idea to hook up with someone for awhile to ask questions to in the beginning as when we are new all this new language may leave us bewildered. I thought the 12 steps were a place to go with 12 steps to gain entrance. You will get many suggestions to get and stay sober. The best ones I got was “KEEP COMING AND DON’T PICK UP THE FIRST DRINK.”
It’s said the most important AA literature is a worn meeting list.
BE WELL
