Big Milestone
Hey guys, just thought I'd drop a note and touch base with you all.

August 4th 2014 marks my 8 months of sobriety! I'm very happy and I'm extremely appreciative of the help that you all gave me in the earlier days of my journey when I had fallen down a handful of times.

Thank you, I'm not sure if this means I'm a newcomer anymore but this is the only place that I've ever posted. Life is really good lately and I'm making great progress. I'm going back to school in Septmeber!

8 months is amazing! Congrats on the milestone, and thank you for sharing! It's nice to hear people's success stories, especially with relapse stories abounding!

Hey Giochick, thanks for the kind words.

I have many relapse stories, in the very early days I hadn't really devoted myself to sobriety. It's not something that you can really attempt half-heartedly. I only ever managed a handful of days and then I'd convince myself that I could drink as my reward. It was a pretty bad cycle to be in.

Eventually I just gave all my cash to my parents, along with my bankcard and locked myself away for a few weeks and just sweated it out. It wasn't great but it was what I needed. I must have been awful to be around in the first few weeks but those days are behind me!
