Welcome to SR and congratulations on your decision to live a sober life.

Everyone is different, but the agitation caused by realigning brain chemistry usually tapers down for about 90 days before the brain finds it's new normal.

Hi and welcome. Your question is very individual, depends on different variables. I’d suggest that if it’s long and or difficult to remember it so it never has to be repeated if you pick up another drink and try to get sober again.

BE WELL

Hi Tency - welcome

as others have said - it varies...but it does get better for most of us.

How long have you been sober?

Welcome! I wasn't agitated at all actually. Just embarrassed at what I have become. I used that as ammunition to get myself sober/healthy again.

That's just me. Everyone is different!

Congrats on deciding to stay sober! :-)

Welcome and congratulations on your decision. You won't regret it. Everyone is different and responses vary. Just give yourself a lot of leeway at first. You may find yourself overreacting to very small inconsequential things. I seemed to have a lot of "parking lot rage" at first. I also tended to emotionally overreact, especially to little things. In addition, big situations that required an emotional reaction; sometimes I would feel numb.

Do some reading and research here on the forum. There are good threads about this.
