List 5 great things about your character
OK, so we already know that you are awesome but do you know what a great person you are?
Too often, after years of dealing with alcoholic/addicted loved one (s), we spiral into negativity and self loathing and forget about what is really cool about our personality/character.
Today's reading inspired me: list 5 great thing about your character and let's revel in our own awesomeness for a change
Me:
I am reliable
I am loyal
I am brave
I am generous
I am hard working
and like I mentioned in the Daily, those same great character traits also have their dark side so the work for me today is to let the positive side of the coin shine as in
Not letting my reliability turn into rigidity
Not letting my loyalty turn into enabling
Not letting my courage turn into recklesness
Not letting my generosity turn into depriving myself/self martyrdom
Not letting me being hard working turn into workolism.
Anyway that last part was more of a self note

Thanks for this Carlotta, and for another great C2C reading today. When I was in middle school we had an assignment like this. List your 5 best qualities. I couldn't think of a single one back then. Thanks also to Alanon and Dr. G. for helping me rebuild my confidence and self esteem.

You showed a positive, which could become a negative if allowed. I show a negative, which could become a positive if allowed. In other words, you move from right to left and I move from left to right..(I'm left handed lol)
I am stubborn, therefor I can't be persuaded in the wrong direction
I am doubtful, therefore I need to keep my mind alert
I require assistance, therefore I will never be alone
I don't believe in luck, therefor I will have to earn
The outside of a person is just as important as the inside, therefore I see the person as a whole

I am funny
I love to play
I am resourceful
I value independence
I give credit where credit is due.
On the dark side,
My being 'funny' is sometimes unwelcome sarcasm
My playfulness can come across as immaturity and avoidance
My resourcefulness and independence sometimes contribute to my pride, and I don't ask for help when I should.
I give credit, but usually to others. I need to give myself more.
I love to play
I am resourceful

I just want to say that I think all of you in this forum just absolutely rock! I am always so impressed how strong you all are having to deal with us because you guys do put up with a lot of crap. And I do get a lot of inspiration from you all in my own recovery and I'm am so thankful that you are all here and let me post here

I'm quite intelligent.
I have a good intuition for people (when I use it).
I am good at explaining things in metaphors.
I'm hard-working and have a strong work ethic.
I'm good at taking time off and relaxing.
I need to be patient with people who don't "get" things as fast as I do.
I need to use my intuition.
I need to work on not always venturing into long stories when I explain things.
I need to not take it personally when I work hard and don't see results.
I need to take time off and relax MORE!

Ok...here goes...
I can communicate well with others, especially teenagers which is sometimes difficult for many. My daughter's friends all call me mom. I love them like they are mine.
I am funny, or at least like to think I am. As long as I think I'm funny...that's what counts LOL!
I am a loyal friend who would do anything for those I care about and even for those I don't.
Children and animals all love me. No matter what, I am the go to person always for children and animals.
I am good at my job and am a loyal employee.

1. A little to much. There are times that honesty can hurt another and I need to tone down my delivery
2. I have a very sarcastic sense of humor, not all people appreciate this. I need to think before I say stuff. I have a tendency to just blurt stuff out.
3. I think I may want to raise my standards just a tad.
4. Even after I have been hurt I remain. I need to work on this. I am getting
stronger though
