hello
hello
This is my first post. Two weeks ago i was diagnosed with alcoholic hepatitis. I kept drinking out of denial. I fell out tues and was in the hospital until today. I became sober 6/25. i am still going thru withdrawals. i just need someone who has the same problem. my drs say my outlook isn't good even though i stopped drinking.
i also have neuropathy in hands and feet from drinking and it's permanent. So please excuse my lack of proper grammar.
thank you.

About five years ago, I ended up in the ER with Alcoholic Hepatitis. At the time, I was drinking a fifth of vodka daily. It was the first time my health was directly affected by my alcohol consumption. The abdominal pains went away after a week of abstaining and then I switched to beer. That was my alcoholic solution; to drink beer instead of vodka. Brilliant.
I spent two more years guzzling 12 tall cans daily. The liver didn't hurt as much, but everything else just got worse.

Why did the doctor's say your outlook isn't good even if you stop drinking? You've removed the source of what is irritating your liver, alcohol! and it's not cirrhosis (which, even if people have it, can stop it's progression by stopping drinking if there are no complicating factors!). You've done the best thing you can! Have hope alcoholic hepatitis is reversible, like fatty liver -if drinking is stopped-
Thank you. i have gotten 3 opinions. the cirrhosis is bad. i am still getting treatment so maybe? i'm still trying to figure out how to handle not drinking. sitting here with sweat pouring off me..i am on only gabapentin so i won't have a seizure. this sucks.
thank you for the support.

Welcome and sorry you are going through this.
I'd get a 2nd opinion on the neuropathy. Mine got considerably better with sober time and physical therapy. It is hardly an issue now. Keep your chin up!
