I Love My Liver

Seriously, after what I've put my poor liver through over the years, I'm astonished at the way it's healed since I got sober on 2/13/14.

Before entering detox in mid-February, my numbers (tests run on 12/5/13) were as follows:

Bilirubin: 1.7 (normal range is 0.3-1.2)
AST: 249 (normal range is 15-41)
ALT: 259 (normal range is 17-63)

I left detox on 2/15/14, and had blood drawn again on 3/17/14. The results were as follows:

Bilirubin: 1.2
AST: 91
ALT: 119

My latest blood levels, after my most recent blood draw on 6/16/14:

Bilirubin: 1.0
AST: 21
ALT: 25

In the four months that I've been sober, I've also quit smoking and started going to the gym regularly. Sobriety is the best thing I've ever done for myself, hands-down.

Yep, the body can be amazingly resilient, but it can definitely be pushed beyond the point of no return. You are very fortunate!

Thanks so much for your post! Good for you!!!

I'm dealing with a similar issue and just yesterday my doctor said that by quitting alcohol I can make a dramatic improvement in my liver tests. Now I can how it really works. That's awesome!

Amazing, bobquin! Really great news. Now just don't do what I always did and let the relief of a good checkup crack the door open ;-) Keep up the great great work!
