OT: Grateful Dead, "He's Gone"
OT: Grateful Dead, "He's Gone"
OK, I'm showing both my age and my bent here, but I was listening to "Europe '72" this afternoon. I've heard "He's Gone" countless times, but today I thought "holy cow, this could be the theme song for SR, in a number of ways!" Here's a link to the song, if you don't know it (and I chose the studio version, not live, b/c the Dead live--well, it can go on, and on, and ON...). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BgzrfUA8lo&feature=kp
And here's the words, if you prefer to just read and not listem: He's Gone | Grateful Dead
Hope you find this at least a bit amusing!

As a onetime Deadhead, I can fully understand. Ripple had the same effect on me.
There is a road, no simple highway,
Between the dawn and the dark of night,
And if you go no one may follow,
That path is for your steps alone.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile.

Between the dawn and the dark of night,
And if you go no one may follow,

Whew, I'm glad there are a few replies--after I posted, I thought "what if no one even knows wtf I'm talking about?" I mean, Jerry's gone almost 20 years now, hard tho it is to believe.
Littlesister, "He's Gone" has always been one of my favorites, along w/"China Cat/I Know You Rider."
Seren and Dee, yup, we are everywhere!
LoveMeNow, "Ripple" is so great too--and I'm pretty fond of "Brokedown Palace" as well.
Goin' home, goin' home,
By the waterside I will lay my bones.
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
To rock my soul.

That one still gets me!
Funny, yesterday I met a long time deadhead and we were reminiscing. I actually failed my "religion class" (catholic schools) to attend a show in Boston. Had to go to summer school for it. Haha. Oh but it was so worth it. Lol
I may as well spruik for this SR social group...it's never really taken off LOL

I think "Blow Away" was written for Alanon:
Baby who's to say it could have been different now that it's done
Baby who's to say that it should have been, anyway
Baby who's to say that it even matters in the long run
Give it just a minute
And it will blow away
It'll blow away.
