9 Months

I am 9 months sober today and my great-grandmother just passed away this afternoon at the ripe old age of 107. I am so grateful that I am able to be fully present and supportive of my family, and to have been there for her in the final days of her life. Sobriety is a beautiful gift. To all the newcomers, hold on and don’t let go!

My condolences too Flying.

I am wearing the T-shirt of my sobriety and it has the stains of years of tears on it. But it also has the stains of a lot of icing from the cake on it too. Some people cry over the stains they can't get out. I am still learning to smile at how they were made.

Looks like we dress alike.

I am sure that your great grandmother was very proud of you! I am sorry that she will not be able to witness your sobriety in 1-2-3-4- infinity years ahead.

I wish you all the best

I believe everything happens for a reason; often times we celebrate and grieve at the same time. Congratulations on your time and I'm happy that you were able to celebrate her life sober

Good on you Flying. What an incredible age your great-grandmother lived to, imagine the changes she saw in her life since 1907. I'm sure you have some wonderful memories of her, may she rest in peace.
