Thumbs up Tonight will be one week!

So, this coming morning around 4am it will be ONE FULL WEEK since I quit drinking!!!!

At first I didn't think I could make it 24 hours ... but man, I have to admit, this week has flown by.

Pressing forward by slowly filling the "void" left behind; researching fitness and nutrition options and generally trying to treat my body better. Making sure I keep in touch (COMMUNICATE) with friends and not isolate. Been doing really well with this!

Have had several AHA! moments, lots of food for thought. Soooo appreciative of the forums here and all you wonderful, wonderful people; I couldn't have done it without y'all. Truly. Thank you everyone!!!!

Thumbs up So happy for you!

You are doing the right things! SR is so rewarding...everyone is rootin' for you and as the sober days start adding up you will find you are like a new person getting better everyday. It is exciting to give encouragement and get it, too. Keep it up. We are all very proud of you! Great attitude! You deserve a great life so go make yourself one!

I quit on St. Patricks Day. I was sort of scared because I've seen people go through withdrawl, and it was not a pretty sight. I had sweats, couldn't sleep and very slight slip of the hands. People say you are not over it for about a year. Do you know? I feel fine. I really don't crave a drink. I just seem to be sad and cry a lot. I hope that will pass Writing down how you feel helps!!!!

It's AMAZING how much better I feel even after a week. Thank you all for the congratulations!!!

If there was any one thing I've done differently this time (I've gone sober twice before) is to not let myself obsess over it. Simply ... close that door and let it go. Move on and let life happen! I have to admit that this mentality is a first for me ... and so far, by far the most effective. Again, these forums help a lot!

So as a type of reward for myself for one week under my belt, I signed up for a boxing class. I start tonight! Nervous but anticipatory, glad to have a new endeavor to fill the evenings I'm off.

Been reading in the Family and Friends forums too, as I think the Al-Anon approach could help my relationship with my bf, which has suffered this past week especially (to be expected, as our relationship was founded on drinking). Not to diagnose anyone or anything, but I think what we've got going on is a pretty codependent dynamic. (no way!!! Lol)

I'd say today has been my most productive yet. Things that I'd been putting off for months ... I got done! Little things, like watch batteries and making appointments (I hate talking on the phone). I've eaten well, cutting back on sugar while still trying to listen to what my body wants/craves.

Feeling pretty exuberant. Pharrell's new song, Happy, is my theme song for the day!

Will update later on how my first class goes. They're going to take my weight and body fat %, really curious just how much I'm in shape (or ... not. Ahem, lol)

Here's to holding myself accountable for my recovery - in so many ways! Whoop whoop!

Thank you everybody!!!

Good Job roguedreams! As we get farther and farther away from things...they get smaller and smaller...like you said...shut the door...let it go....lol u seen frozen? LET IT GO.... Boxing is a GREAT idea...I have two different black belts and studied martial arts and boxing for almost 10 years...it will keep you busy and give you another reason to not be hungover or less than your best due to alcohol.
I work out a lot...I LOVE to work out and really it FUELS my sobriety...I have a great local gym that has awesome fitness classes...I absolutely love waking up in the morning hydrated and ready to kick some a** haha
If you start to get that craving for alcohol again...remember the fuel your body needs and wants....NOT that.
Congratulations on your success!!!
P.S. I too know the feeling of a relationship founded on being drunk together....if u ever wanna chat about that I'm here...been there done that
