How lucky we are
How lucky we are
As I read through these various posts and share with everyone the successes - and yes, sometimes the failures - of what life brings, it makes me think of how lucky we, this community, are that this site exists. I wonder how many lives it has literally saved, certainly changed for the better. I can't think of any other place like this on the internet, a place that is so open, welcoming, nonjudgemental and filled with people who really care about each other. In a digital world that's increasingly filled with vitriol and mindless, vapid "news" about the latest celebrity divorce, SR is a wonderful safe haven for me. Everyone here should be grateful for one another, for the mods, and for whoever began this site however many years ago. I know I am. Just thought I'd share...
Stay strong all.
Stay strong all.
Good site. Listens all my crap, and jumps in my face when necessary. Sometimes not for the faint of heart. But good Heavens DO NOT go into the men's room. There is this guy named Dee on here that will whap you in the head if you do. .
Shoebox, I agree with you, too!
Sometimes, when I stop and think of the connections that we have here, I'm overwhelmed. We are truly blessed to live in a world where this kind of instant and international communication is available to us.

What a great post Shoebox - I'm so glad you feel that way. I was instantly hooked when I first came here - and I never left. My SR friends understand me in a way that no one else could. It means the world.
Thanks for sharing that! I feel the exact same way. A day doesn't go by that I don't come here. There is no other forum out there that can even compare to this place. That is just my experience.
I am so thankful that I can come here and that this place exists. It definitely helps me in my sobriety.

Legend has it that SR was founded by a man named Jon who lived in Palm Springs. He started the site after he got clean and put a lot of effort into keeping it running in its early days.
Thanks, Jon.… We all owe you big time!

Thanks for sharing that link, Lady. I always wanted to know some background of how SR started, and there it was. Does anyone know if Jon Heller is still part of this community? Thanks all.

Actually, I think he's still alive and doing well, at least according to the Google. He's active on Facebook, LinkedIn and a few other places, or so it appears if I'm looking at the right Mr. Heller. Quite a success story, this site and his life it seems...
