WOW! Cant believe it!

I have been trying to save money for years, and have struggled!

Today I have been sober for 10 days!

Today I got paid!

Usually I am broke when I got paid!

I have saved $750 by not drinking for 10 days! This was in the bank before I got paid!

I am so HAPPY right now! I can pay my rent on time!

Have you done the math? That's somethign else, right? There are some really great reasons to quit. Health being number one a lot of the time. But can't deny the money being saved, either.

I knew I would save money, just didn't realize how much, and with the financial burden heading my way for my DUI, this gives me a lot of peace of mind.

The money thing is a definite added bonus. I did the math, and calculated that I spent $500 a month on alcohol and activities directly related to alcohol. That's outrageous. I'm definitely not rich, and I could absolutely use that money elsewhere.

I was about 750 - 800 a month, but I became a very impulsive spender when I was drinking buying a bunch of stuff I didn't need. Would drop 80 - 100 at Walmart just buying junk I would never buy sober.

Thanks all, it does feel good Hevyn! Not drinking, especially the longer I stay sober is very liberating. All these little victories I was not expecting are happening. Saving money is great, but my mental clarity feels fantastic. Its like my path is now clear, I know what I have to do. And I look forward to the new adventure!

When i got sober I came to believe in everyday miracles

I am so glad this has happened for you

When i was sober for one year, i bought myself an expensive guitar, when i got to two i splurged on an acoustic- its incredible to think of the money i pissed away when drinking

It's horrible to think of the amount of money I've spent (wasted) on alcohol: at home, in bars, restaurants, things I've purchased because I was drunk that I wouldn't buy otherwise, etc. Over the years, I'm sure it's in the 10's of thousands of $'s. Many 10's. So pathetic, really. Add to that the health costs, which can't really be calculated, and the costs of drinking for me have been staggering.

That's wonderful, and now you can plan new ways to spend that extra money.
