A killer

Just heard the very sad news that a lady I knew in a recovery meeting a while back has died due to her drinking. I wasn't close to her but can imagine how this will have affected her family and friends. I'm hoping that they will recover from this over time and that she didn't suffer too much. It's horrible news like this that I take as a warning and makes me even more determined to keep going with this. R.I.P. R. x

I know purpleknight. A reminder to me that it could be myself tomorrow. It's amazing how easily the mind can 'turn'.

So sorry to hear that Emmsie. My Mother passed away from Cirrhosis (I hate that word).. I never drank, but have been (binge drinking on and off for the last five years). Time for me to get some help, otherwise others will feel the agony and sadness of losing someone to a horrible disease that this is..
Love and Light to you.

My Aunt passed through alcohol related illness and I vowed never to drink. I didn't really start drinking until I hit 30 - sure made up for it though

Same here Skye2 I started drinking but mainly drugging at age 30, when my Mum passed away, it broke my heart, but it's time to take care of myself, and heal all the pain. Thanks for the welcome, sending you love and light.

Kevin - It was a shock and feel very sorry for the lady's family. Saw one of her close friends today and she had tears in her eyes talking about it. My heart really goes out to those affected and it is a warning to me to keep my sobriety in check at all times.

Thanks Garen, 2bhappier and Sugar. Even though I wasn't close to this lady, it was so sad and frightening to hear about. A sobering reminder indeed. Hope you're all doing good and catch up on chat soon.
