5 years!!
5 years!!
Well, today I'm 5 years sober. Not sure why this milestone is more important to me than the years before but I've always seen 5 (and 10, etc) as such a great chunk of time.
In that time I've become healthier than I've ever been, inside and out. My career has blossomed, my marriage and relationships with friends and family have improved, I've had my son (4 years ago), moved to my little home of my dreams.
5 years ago I was in a desperate, hopeless place. I never thought I could survive sobriety, much less thrive on it.
To anyone struggling, I know it sounds cliche, but if I can do it, so can you.
Thank you SR for being my backbone when I didn't have one, my 'hugs' when I've most desperately needed them, all of you make this community amazing.

Well done you and judging by your photo you are drop dead gorgeous too Have a wonderful life honey
how pleased you must feel
congratulations
5 years is a very nice amount of sober time
few that sober up ever see 5 years on continuous sobriety
I sobered up many times in my life only to relapse over and over
had just short of 3 years sober twice
let me tell you
when I finally got 3 real years -- it was great
then One Day At A Time I thought about 5 years sober
I also got there in time
I understand how pleased you must feel
enjoy your day

Congrats Flutter, I appreciate your sharing. I have 48 days today and it is good to know that sobriety's promises do come true! I have good days and bad right now and am going through the anxious times of fear. I know this will pass. God will give me what I need in abundance!
