Recovery Questions
Hey All,
I am 23 and have been drinking consistently for several years. I have tried to stop but have been unsuccessful because I never truly thought I had an issue.
However, I am on day 2 of quitting. I feel tired, weak, depressed and extremely tired.
My whole body feels cold although It is warm in my house.
I have gone a few days without drinking before but never felt like this. I can't decide if this is because I consciously know that I'm quitting and my body is reacting?

Welcome to SR.
I did not freeze when I stopped – I believe people react very differently.

It is sometime helpful to remind oneself every day what one is up to.

It sounds like it is withdrawals that you are going through. You didn't experience that before, but each time we stop drinking, it gets more difficult.
I think that stopping drinking is an emotional thing too and some of the feelings you are having could be related to that. You are accepting that you can no longer drink, and that's a big deal.
Good for you on Day 2.

Hi and welcome backtobasics101
That sounds pretty similar to how I would feel - something like a bad flu, aches all over, feeling cold, weary, depressed.
Like others have said do see a Dr if you're concerned
do you have a plan to stay sober?

made an error on my first post. I actually slept for 12-13 hours and am on day 3 --
I feel better today, thinking about having a drink pretty frequently and am pretty scatter brained but physically better.
Thanks for all replies and support
