25 days!
Just checking in. I have 25 days and chugging along - no desire to drink and I've been able to meet up with people having drinks and not had the urge.
Most remarkable is that I made it through a very painful visit with my elderly parents. I mentioned this before, but since I am not very active on here, I'll repeat - my brother died in August (age 45) and it has been terrible. Now, it's like my parents are mad at ME because I am the alive one. I guess that is a stage of grief, but it sure does not feel good, especially considering I have been the responsible, successful one that they have not had to support or worry about.
Those are the kind of situations that make me want to drink - but I didn't!
Hoping you are all having success with your goals.

Congratulations on 25 days!! I'm so sorry for what you and your parents are going through, but time can heal a lot of feelings (been there, done that). Just keep doing what is best for you. That's the most important thing IMO. I didn't have the same situation but I had a VERY angry dad. As I moved further into recovery, we moved past the hurt, pain, resentments, etc. He had to see my actions for quite a while, not just my words.
You're doing great!
Hugs and prayers,
Amy

Well done on 25 days, especially with the current family issues. I am really sorry to hear about your brother. I was getting something similar from my Dad when my mum passed and in the end I said 'I've lost someone I loved as well you know' - He looked at me and we both burst into tears and it's been fine since.
It's the old cliché - we always hurt the ones closest to us - I really hope it resolves itself soon for you

Dear seethefuture,
Fantastic job staying sober after such a tragedy. That's when it's easier to make excuses to drink even more and you've taken the higher road. Bravo!
We have the exact same sober birthday ! I'm 25 days today also, lets keep going strong !
Best wishes,
Shay

Thanks, everyone. My brother died in a boating accident and alcohol was involved. We don't know if that contributed or if he had a natural issue that caused him to fall in (he had health issues) but either way, he was night fishing, slipped into the water, and his friend woke to an empty boat. I refuse to quiz his friend as the poor guy has enough to deal with. But - yes, as Dee said, this is a way to honor his memory.
Hopefully my parents (mostly my mom) will move to the next stage of grief soon and it won't involve focusing on my flaws. I'm in the middle of a divorce, and while they are very supportive of my decision, they are less than helpful with the criticisms and whatnot.
