New begining
New begining
My husband and I are fast approaching our 14th wedding anniversary. Many happy years....but years plagued by many unhappy moments all fueled by alcohol. We both without a doubt have drinking problems. We have enabled each other our entire marriage. Last weekend while in a weekend getaway he drank far to much (happening more often than not) he had been becoming increasingly mean when under the influence...this time he tried to hit me...our world has spiraled out of control since that moment. He left our home for a week. I had all the "advise" I could stand. Ultimately after lots of discussion and soul searching we've decided that sobriety (for both) and counseling is our answer. He has not had a drink since the night of the incident and feels very strong. I am on day 2 and feel weak and scared. I know sobriety is the answer for me to and that just because I wasn't the "mean" drunk doesn't make me any less of a drunk. I'm here hoping to find strength and support.
Thanks, Kristin

Welcome Kristin, SR is a wonderful place for support. Well done on day 2. I found taking it one day at a time and thinking that i wouldn't drink for today helped me a lot. Glad you have joined us.

Hi Kristin,
Welcome to SR.
Glad you both have decided to stop the madness.
You'll find a lot of encouragement here and folks that have been through and are still going through breaking free from alcohol and drugs.
