Sunday will be one month!

Day 27.. Sunday will be one month since I had a drink. Do the thoughts if drinking subside over time? Doing fine right now. 5 months from now, 5 years?? Who knows?

Keep on ,
The furthur i got from my last drink the better it got . There were ups and downs along the way some real stinky bits but the trend longterm has been up . My life now is far better and more comfortable when i consider how horrid it was drinking . A depression i did'nt know i had went at 6 months ..

Today i'm on day 769 , stick with it , it's worthwile .

Bestwishes, m

P.S last time i had a craving was august 2012 .

Well done 83. My desire for a drink declined significantly after two weeks.

Congrats on one month sober! Yes, the thoughts of drinking fade with time. I stopped thinking about it around six months or so. Now at almost four years it rarely enters my head.

I read the Big Book. They talk about the 'obsession'- in my understanding recurrent ideas about drinking. When I stopped drinking my mind was 'driven' for about three months- I was consumed by ideas on my recovery, of drinking, of not drinking etc. It was a liberating time and an exhausting one at the same time.

In time things settle down. I now go for long periods without thinking about the whole issue.

Congratulations! My drinking thoughts are now VERY muted when they happen at all.
When a drinking thought occurs most times I catch it and say, "NO". Keep goin'!

I think it's different for every person. I'm 13 months sober and everything was going great until the past month. The urges have returned and I'm struggling a bit. I hope that they're going to pass and I'll be back on the road of contentment I was on for the previous year. I'm hoping that, eventually, I'll never think of picking up again. But, something tells me that I'm always going to have to be on my guard.
