I am . . . . . .

Heard this while listening at an Alanon meeting last night.

btw, my listening is actually finally getting better. Not talking about my hearing. My listening. I had been sitting with a blind woman at one meeting for a while earlier this year. Every time she spoke some real wisdom would come out of her mouth. I marveled at that [being the jackass I am] about how she could be so wise, being blind and all. She explained that she learned by listening. And Maybe I should try that, too. Touche.

So I started. I now take my glasses off when other people read aloud from the various Alanon books, and so I can only listen (cannot read without my glasses). And I am starting to really hear the voices of the Angels -- speaking through the group, as it were.

At any rate. Listening last night.

I am . . . .

A woman sitting next to me said that she had heard that she can now place herself where she needs to be by starting with "I am . . . " and completing it with where/what she wants to be.

So Today, I am . . . Happy, Joyous, and Free.

Borrowed that second part from the AA side of the house.

And guess what? I am Happy, Joyous and Free.

This thread is just what I needed to see tonight. My husband is active duty Navy and I am a civilian in the Department of the Navy. Today we both woke up with secure jobs and assured paychecks. So, today I am grateful, humble, and content. And hoping that this mess gets worked out for those who weren't as fortunate as we were.

We are all pumpkins

A lady, after having had a spiritual awakening as the result of the twelve steps, was asked what it was like.

She replied, 'It's like being a pumpkin: God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off you may have gotten from your pumpkin dreams and other pumpkins.

Then he cuts the top off and scoops out all the yucky stuff. He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc.

Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see.

Yunno . . . . truly freakin amazes me to watch my fingers type this right in front of me . . . but Mrs. Hammer being an A might turn out to be one of the best things in my life . . .
