A person who inspired me in my recovery.
A person who inspired me in my recovery.
There were many people who shared with me in my recovery, shared their experience and support, time, a coffee or a meal.
But in the end it was my BF, drinking himself to death and totally given over to alcohol that was the kick in the pants reality check that made me say "ok, games over chick, you either stop now, for real, for good...or you end up like him"
I guess I needed a bad example before I could put to use what the good examples taught me.
He's sober now and in recovery. He says that him being that fat, sick, pathetic person who threw our relationship in the toilet also inspired him to say "hey, game over".

My boyfriend was on the road to drinking himself to death (sort of like I 90 around Chicago) but he took an exit and is now on Sober Recovery Blvd.
Awesome thing about Alcoholism is that we can take an exit before it comes to its dead end.
Sorry if that didn't make sense...it's the terminology he uses "back when I was drinking myself to death..."

"12. Having had a spiritual awakening..."
or
"The word Buddha is a title, not a name. It is derived from the Sanskrit: “Budh,” to know. It means “one who is awake” in the sense of having “woken up to reality.”
