Advice--meeting with a counselor finally!
Finally after months of searching I have found a Licensed Counselor with some experience in trauma healing that will meet with me using a sliding scale for fees since I have lost my insurance. Meeting with her the first time I know she will want some background info but in order to bring her up to speed it will take over the complete hour or more to explain everything. Is it better I just tell her I want to heal from certain problems & then give specifics for those problems rather than trying to give her a 15 year history of living with someone I'm still not sure was an alcoholic and all the lies and abuse that went with it? And, what should I expect to see from her if she is a good counselor to help with PTSD & my depression? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I would say don't over think it right now. The counselor has the experience in handling that first meeting, she will guide the appointment. You'll figure out in the first few meetings if she's a good fit for you.
Good Luck!
