New here and 32 today
Hello everyone. I decided to register here after I looked up 'AVRT" and 'Jack Trimpey' as suggested by a lady in a SMART meeting I went to.
Where do I start? Well, its my birthday and back in my hometown glad I'm sober for the fourth day in a row WOW! I say wow because I've stopped SO many times and started again. I've been to hundreds of 12 step meetings...I joined the SMART on-line forums a couple of years ago...but it just hasn't CLICKED! As I understand AVRT that's the Beast talking. eg "I hope one day it will just click" "I'm so boring" "I'll never get a job" all the self-doubt is the Beast or the addictive Voice it would seem.
Anyway I'm new here new to all that. Just like to say thanks heaps to the member Terminally Unique and plenty of others who have chatted in those forums I've been wading through since yesterday....

Welcome to SR & Happy Birthday:day2
This is a great place and has been instrumental in me getting sober. It's full of great support and likeminded people together with ideas and tips for your recovery
I also read about AVRT when I quit-it really resonated with me.I'd recommend the book as well as the online stuff as it goes deeper.

Happy Birthday (belated now, I guess), WW! And happy 5th day sober, too.
SR is a great place - incredible support and a wealth of helpful information. Keep reading and posting - there're a lot of good people here with a lot of wisdom to share.

Hi Waterwagon,
Great to see you here. You're only a couple of years younger than my twin daughters: they don't believe they have a problem with alcohol (or party drugs). It's all about their Mum being the problem and being a drunk.
So, you've given yourself the best birthday prezzie you can possibly do: getting onto to this problem for yourself, early in your life. Yes: you might think 'I'm 32, so I'm getting OLD.' No you're not. You still have many years left to live and to truly live your life.
Many welcomes to this wonderful madcap community!
