The serenity prayer
God, given me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, the strength to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Such a simple prayer with so much power behind it. I often find my self repeating this prayer in the morning as I drive to work, like a mantra of meditation, and of course, it makes me feel so much better.
Keeping my self mind full of this very though, has been awesome in helping be remain joyfully sober. Last night I participated in an H&I panel for MA, and as I started talking about the importance of the serenity prayer, I could see the audiences ears perk up.
In the end this is what we all want. As I have often mentioned, the reality is that most addicts take drugs as a side effect of their co-dependency, which is the true ailment. Once we learn serenity the rest is easy
