Hi Everyone
Male, 35, UK.
I've been sober since October 28 last year after getting into a series of pointless arguments at a colleague's 40th and almost getting into trouble with the police for skipping a taxi fare (driver would not turn loud music off so I got out of cab without paying > he called the police). Also hangovers affecting performance at work, and emotional fragility/paranoia was becoming unbearable.
Not attending any f2f AA meetings but have attended a few online. Was regularly drinking 2 bottles of wine per night, difficult to pinpoint exactly when that began - my twenties are a haze.
Partner of some 4.5 years and I split earlier this year but we're still living together whilst I find a new place - she still binge drinks, becomes hysterical/borderline abusive when drunk, Jekyll/Hyde transformation. Can't remember anything the next day.
Feeling isolated, haven't been able to forge new social circle since quitting, am aware that AA would be a good place to start, but dislike the message of powerlessness in the face of alcohol.
Looking to find some motivation to stay sober and learn from other's wisdom.
