One Month!
One Month!
Hello Everyone,
First of all, Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!
Today I have been sober for 31 days and I couldn't have made it without the help and support here at SR. I dried out in March, but had two slip-ups - I guess I had to figure out for myself if I really needed to stay abstinent.
One month in and my life is immensely better in terms of family, finances and health. I cannot believe how much better things have come along.
The only problem is that I am getting hit really hard with PAWS. It is strange since it comes and goes and the forgetfulness is pretty bad. Sometimes I am so spacey I feel like I am in a dreamlike state. Wondering when PAWS will start to dissipate....

Congrats! 31 days is most excellent. its my understanding paws can last about 2 years. I just reached my 2 year mark on June 12. I will say the first few months are hard as far as the spacey feeling but it does get much better. Just be patient and give it time. Now that you got rid of the booze you have all the time in the world.
Congrats 1st
I would try not to worry - what you're experiencing may not even be PAWs but simply your body and mind healing.
I felt 'normal' again at around 3 months, but it varies for everyone

Congratulations!
If it makes you feel any better, or at least not alone, I forgot the PIN to my debit card today. It's the same darn 4 numbers I've had for EIGHT years and I just up and forgot it. So, yeah, the weirdness may continue for awhile but I can sooo live with that.
BTW, I took a nap and voila! My PIN magically returned to my brain. Would have been so much handier when I was wanting to buy a FRAPPACCINO earlier today.

Hey congrats on getting sober. I really started to feel normal again after a few months and even now at six months I feel like I'm still improving. Remember, every time you drink again tho the withdrawals get worse so stick with it.
