Day 8 and Very Emotional
I've been drinking eight years steadily. In the last year, built up to over a liter of vodka. I quit 8 days with the help of doc, but can not open my mouth to talk to anyone wihout crying today. I just want to bury myself undr covers and disappear.

That's completely normal. Alcohol is a depressant so you're neurotransmitters are adjusting. Early on I could go from being elated to sad pretty quickly. Its also part of withdrawal which tends to be worse the more you drank in quantity and length. But you are through with the worst of it now! Exercise can quicken the process and release happy endorphins if you feel up to it and your doctor says it safe. Sometimes a short walk in a little sunshine does wonders. If not, find other fun things to do that you couldn't really do when you were drinking- watch a good movie, read, eat some good food.
That sounds about normal for most people in the early stages of sobriety. Understand that there are physiological changes going on as your brain adjusts to the absence of alcohol. I was a paranoid wreck for a couple weeks when I stopped after 5 years of daily drinking. Things will improve in the next few weeks, as long as you stay sober. I hate to use the old cliche but: There's a light at the end of the tunnel.
