Hi Gretchen
Like the rest are saying, nobody's too smart to be an addict. Addiction doesn't give a flying one about your IQ. Nor does it do anything for you in the short or long-term attractiveness stakes either!
Your brain will over-complicate everything. It will try and rationalize your every thought. It will allow you to tell yourselves such blatant lies that if you heard such rubbish from anyone else, you'd just laugh at them.
It's an oldie but goodie this one - keep it simple. Do that for starters and you'll find you're off to a flyer.

First off Welcome!
Secondly you have positive qualities and opinions of yourself. That is a great thing. Realizing your self worth may make the transition to sobriety much easier. Alcohol is the one thing holding you back, you can find the support and kindness you need here. We will not judge you and will gladly listen.
