Severe alcoholism
Hi,
First time I've ever posted on a forum of any sort. This feels like a sort of last resort.
For past four years I've bed completely addicted to vodka. 35 to 50 cl virtually every night, rarely have a break from it. On a Friday or Saturday night I'll drink up to 75cl. Rarely get hangover as such, but next day I have no patience with anyone or anything. No energy, no self belief, nothing.
At this rate I'm surprised I'm not dead already, need some help from somewhere or someone, please.
Kind regards mryan62

Welcome. What have you tried so far in terms of quitting? Would you or have you considered rehabs or meetings or maybe therapy? I am pretty sure there were times I couldn't do it alone. Just a suggestion or two.

Hi Myran
How's it going and welcome to an excellent place!
If you're a fully paid up member of the vodka-drunk appreciation society, you'll probably know by now that you're not on a path to any sort of salvation soon. Short of graduating to methylated spirits or after-shave, vodka has a proud and deserved place as a real list-topper for chronic abusers.
I used to frequently ask myself why I drank it. Neat vodka of the cheap and nasty variety has to be one of the most heinous experiences known to man. It's an effort to keep it down even on a good day. You can feel it stripping away the lining of all those bodily necessities such as internal organs etc.
I loathe it. I don't blame it but it scares the sh!t out of me now. Don't let it get you to the place it wants to take you - and it will take you there. There's only one winner in the long run with vodka and it won't be you.

Hi there Mryan62 - this forum is such a good place to be So, what are your plans? Are you going to get some advice from your Dr? I think that for a lot of people who drink in the way you describe some care needs to be taken when stopping so hopefully your Dr would have advice/experience in this matter?
Good luck anyway, keep reading and posting.

[QUOTE=ForMy2Boys;3873547]Don't think of it as the last resort, think about it as the path to a new beginning. /QUOTE]
Mryan62 - welcome!
I love what ForMy2Boys said - it is spot on!
It can be done......

I dumped the rest of my vodka down the drain this morning. Just like I did with that OTHER bottle I bought a couple of nights before going out to get this one. I probably drank 50-60 just yesterday. The awful, cheap stuff too. I think my headache is finally waning.
I also decided to join this forum today because I think the group support will be better than me trying to do it alone. I hope the two of us are right about it.
