Fist BUMP! I made it to 2 MONTHS!!!!
Fist BUMP! I made it to 2 MONTHS!!!!
That sums it up. I made it to months! Holy cow! It hasn't been easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is, I've found.
Thanks SR posters, I couldn't have done it without you. No, seriously!
Cheers!

P.S, you can SO do this! Unfortunately, I've had to avoid all parties, shows, and social drinking situations for 2 months, but hey, shoot, been there done that. So, you know, maybe in another month or two I won't have to keep doing that.
Cheers!
Woohoo,
Well, I'm chirpy, because honestly, 2 months ago I had no idea if this going to be another "running start" that ends in 2 weeks or less, or if it was the real deal. Now, while it may still be to early to tell at 2 months, it's still A LOT longer than I've ever managed outside of being pregnant.
So, you know, I feel like I achieved something--and the beginning was NOT easy. So anybody else wanting to get past the 2 week wall or what length of time your own "wall" is for staying sober, you can do it. The whole "one day at a time" thing worked to get me through those rough first 3 weeks, where even a beer commercial made me want to cry. Just saying, "It's no big deal, because I'm just not drinking, for tonight," really helped me get through the topsy turvy first 3 weeks. That and going to my 2 A.A meetings a week, just because it means I'm serious, and less likely to fall back to thinking that I can "just have one, and it will be cool."
Anyway, that's what's worked to get me to 2 months, and I'm hoping it will work to get me to three, and so on.
So all you other sober strivers out there who are on fence--I was on the fence for YEARS, on and off, and I've taken many running starts. I came here several times and fell off the wagon several times after about 9 days, respectively, and then something just clicked. Just go for it! I won't lie, it's still scary, but getting less so every day.
Cheers!!!! And thanks once again to everyone for the congrats and the support!

Congrats!
For some reason I thought we had the same sober B-day, but we are close!!!
My 1st full sober day was Jan 15th... So Im only 2 days behind ya. Im excited & I already
decided who is giving me my medallion.
I know goofy the things we look forward to in our sober life now!
Normally a Friday would consist of which bar or liquor store am I going to hit???
Now its Im excited to acknowledge 60 days of NOT doing that!
Well done on the 2 months something to be very proud of! Keep up the great work!
