I'm bumping this for myself because AHs mom and I are very close and she has asked me to go along for a visit tomorrow. She (finally) is involved in Alanon

-_- man I've sat on that decision for about a week and evaluated my boundaries

* I will not put money on the phone
* If he spends his own money to call and I'm busy or not in the mood then I will not answer
* I will not spend money on visits
* I will not participate in marriage counseling with him during the first year of recovery

these are things I need to do for me! (sigh) I feel like I'm going on a trip to the duckpond.
I have also decided it's best for us to go together. If I come back from this first visit and feel any disturbance in the force I simply will not go again. I have not seen him since January... hmmm...

Also... I feel like the DOC is a bandaid... I Know he is sober and don't have to question it right now... doesn't really build trust because he always does good when he's in a cage of some sort :l

he said " that's exactly why I'm going straight from here to sober living until you decide to let me come home... or divorce me... I know sobriety means nothing in the cage... only on the outs -_-"

he's in prison. Different than treatment.

He did 30 days in 2012. Relapsed. 4 months in 2013. realapsed.

He is now incarcerated for the next 2 years.

sometimes treatment helps :l sometimes not. It all depends on the person

Are you in the UK ? He had one stint of 3 weeks two years ago and came out and had counselling for a year then went back in over Christmas and got kicked out cause he missed his suboxone at the chemist when his mentor told him the chemist was open all day that was after 4 weeks

unfortunately no :l I'm in the USA

suboxone wasn't an option for my AH

I hope you stick aroun and keep posting! The stickies here can be very helpful
