5th day...feeling antsy, my mind is telling me to go out

Hi everyone. I have gotten through my 5th day of sobriety. I just got home from yoga. I am sitting here telling myself not to go out, but my mind keeps telling me to go have a drink. I have been feeling great, but I am getting weak here.

Flush your car keys if you have to. I hit a similar patch last friday night. It will pass, give it time. Have a hot coco or something.

I met Joe Frazier the boxer in Philadelphia!
Ok, that has nothing to do with drinking.
I just thought it would distract you.
Please don't drink.
You have to just get through a couple of hours and go to bed.
You will be so pleased in the morning.
You will be so peed off if you have a hangover.
HALT, Do not let yourself get,
Hungry
Angry
Lonely or
Tired.
Don't drink!

Or make a list of what positive things going out would bring you, and the bad.

Do you have a support group or a sponsor you can call?

Is there an AA meeting you can go to? (No matter how you feel about AA; if it's a meeting or a drink, pick the meeting)

If not, there's an online meeting here in a little over an hour: AAOnline.net--Realtime Open AA Meetings on the Internet

5 days is a big accomplishment. At this point, the alcohol is out of your body. You've detoxed successfully and safely. Think about that - your body fought a battle to cleanse itself of a poison and it won. Don't make your body start all over again.

And do you really feel like drinking? Tomorrow morning would you be glad you did? Would you feel better than if you woke up after a good night's sleep and it was day 6?

I hope you can get through this. Do whatever it takes to stay sober tonight.

Thanks all. I've just been doing this on my own, no meetings or anything. I'm not a big talk about my feelings kinda guy, so I can't bring myself to go to one. I will get through this. Thanks for the support

I'm on Day 5 too - come to Day 6 with me. I am going to make a cup of tea and go to bed early. Meditate - sing in the mirror, dance around. You don't need a drink

I'll be at day 6 with you TT...thank you. I think I am going to go shower, make some popcorn and watch a movie. Thank you, all the comments were really helpful, but yours hit me being that you are in the same boat. Thank you.

Since I was home sick today I had lots of time, started reading Rational Recovery, you might like it.
