I never really understood what a sponser does i've never had one but have heard it fly around the room a lot. I guess to keep this short, what does a sponser do exactly?

Well a sponsor is designed to be someone who has walked through the kinds of issues you've had with drugs or alcohol. Their experience strength and hope in conjunction with working the 12 steps is designed to keep you accountable to someone who will see through your b.s. and show you that the program works.

If your looking for one I suggest finding one with at least 5 years sobriety. But you gotta do what you need to!
