Are people not interested in AA welcome here?
I am not interested in AA. I've read about it for 2 days and I simply am not interested.
If so I will post up my hopefully not too unique situation and talk a bit.

Why don't you start a new thread? You will most likely get more responses in Newcomers. We all try to be respect of all programs or philosophies here at SR. I've gained a lot reading the experiences of other folks.
I think most of us know there are many paths to sobriety and a sane lifestyle. You are Ming friends here!

I'm a nOOb too but so far as I'm concerned you're welcome! A week and a half into this I'm not interested in AA, either. It just doesn't seem like my thing. Right now I'm working on a type of CBT called AVRT. It focuses on the individual and recognizing the "Addictive Voice" and vetoing with the active will. This isn't a conventional step-based program, and if it doesn't work for me I'll take whatever steps I must to leave booze behind me.
In my opinion, whatever works is what you should adopt. Not everyone is at the same point in the arc of addiction; indeed, not everyone follows the same arc. Mine seemed to be pretty standard, and I could pretty well place myself on the curve. In my case I was drinking to the point of being drunk every day, pretty much with just a couple days off in the last few years. While I never went to work drunk I did see the point coming where I'd probably need a nip in the morning to start the day. I decided to stop while stopping was still within my power.

been to AA and 100% not for me. if that was the only option, i would drink myself to death. that said..... it's a huge life ring for others. more power to them.
i think everyone is different in ways and alike in ways and should use any thing that helps them - do what works is my philosophy. i tend to skip over anything that goes into an AA sermon but respect others having their own view. i've read a lot on SR and i think there are a bunch of people doing things other than AA. after you are here for a bit you will find threads and people that are more your thing. i did. not all threads bend into AA conversations... i guess maybe it's just a popular option among people. this forum is a helpful place for me - i hope it becomes one for you too.

YES your welcome here. I am a AAer, but just cause that is the route I choose for sobriety, doesnt mean that I am right...

Definitely welcome. SR is awesome because there are people getting and staying clean and sober using all sorts of methods.
I personally find it very liberating to read people's experiences and to know that there are OPTIONS.
