so ex tuff guy crying
so ex tuff guy crying
Writing a journal as my PTSD therapist said to and I start crying like a baby.. In drinking I could shut every thing out now it just flows. I feel to soft. I was such a tuff guy now I just hurt I hope this is healing or I'm screwed. I'll trust I'm not.
I think facing it like you are actually shows how tough you are. One of my friends told me, just because your going sober Dust doesn't mean your going to get soft. I worried about that a lot. Like people were going to think I was less of a man, Its more the other way around here lately.
It is very good for you to cry if you feel like it. If you hold it in, it hurts you.
I believe that it is healing .
I learned that I could stop running from the pain, because I found out that crying my heart out did not kill me. then i didn't have to run so much anymore.
I enjoy your posts Mycoolfitz. glad you are here.

Sorry you're getting slammed right now...PTSD can be really rough. At the same time, you know that adding booze on top of things won't help the memories.
Worked with a guy on Wall Street who had served in Nam. Back then, people didn't know what PTSD was, but in hindsight, Jim had memories that haunted him. For those of us who haven't been through it, we can't even begin to imagine what it was like going through it and then living with the thoughts and memories that don't go away.
Hope you find some peace tonight. You deserve it.

Yea too much time. The navel base was doing exercises overhead. Just got to me. Grateful for SR though I was pod yesterday. I have had the shakes most of the day. The choppers don,t quit. I think they are practicing mountain tacttics wonder who that is for. But good news sober now all I can do.
Wow!,
Been off for a couple guys, thanks Dee and Fitz. Just heard it for the first time. Great song. I have a copy of the hardcover of "We were Soldiers Once and Young" signed by all the survivors of the battle including personal congrats on my retirement by Gen Hal Moore and Joe Galloway. The other guys signed on the pages where they appeared in the story. For my friends that are civvies and think they are tough I ask them to read that one book. It is the closest you can get to the real thing without being there yourself. You posts caused me to pull it out again. It is one of my prized possessions and I wasn't even "in country" for that war, serving here in CONUS for my first hitch 71-75. We called it being "downrange" just before I retired in 98.

If you saw me you would probably think the same of me, tough, strong, etc. I rarely do cry, but I kinda wish I cried more! I have depression issues so I often rethink things in my head that make me upset, sad, angry, etc. One day I was so sad I cried for a good ten minutes... yah, it was a while, lol, but you know what? I felt really good after. I told my gf, so this is why women cry so often, it takes the pain away and you feel good after She half is crying/smiling at me. I do think crying is good, I do wish I did it more for health purposes.
