I've noticed a real change in SR lately

The in fighting of the best recovery method is gone. I appreciate it so much. If standing on my head works for me it works for me. Of course I can't stand on my head but the point is support not devision. Its much better now to read, post and respond. I appeciate the efforts of the moderators and the willlingness of participants. We can have different points of view but we're in the same life raft.

Yeah I wish there was even less of it however. I was told in the chat room the other night that I would fail because I am not in AA, sigh.

Any time anyone feels harassed about their personal recovery decisions, please feel free to let me, or another mod or chat monitor, know about it.

Now..Fitz started this as a positive thread - let's try and keep that way, hey?

Now that you mention it Fitz, there is a real improvement lately. It does nothing for my serenity to see such arguing among people I care about. I hope this trend continues - thank you to all who had a hand in making it so.

Fitz, I agree, lately, there has been an especially positive vibe and i can't help but think that has to help all the newcomers and give them a sense of hope.

I think in the first couple weeks or months of recovery, you are borrowing hope from others until you feel it yourself.

I also know it gives me hope to see them succeed.

The Buddha once said I teach one thing and one only:
that is, suffering and the end of suffering.

I could change that to addiction and the end of addiction. We don't have to agree on method but we can be civil and respectful. I'm a Buddhist and was told in a meeting to get over the new age crap. Other than the fact its been around 2400 years I let it go because it wasn't my issue. I do believe in serenity now, just trying to acheive it. I respect every poster and post because they are posting. I once was in a meeting at a school and someone said tell me one good thing about this kid and I said he came to school today and didn't have to.

man, i am very sorry to hear that. please remember that what was said to you is not the message of AA. in fact, AA says it may not be for everyone and strongly urges people to find what works.

When I saw that thread title I thought I was going to read something negative about SR and was ready to jump on it LOL. (I have a tendency to defend my friends relentlessly) Instead I agree with you completely Fitz. And my thanks as well to the mods and other staff for doing their best to keep that stuff in check. And especially for keeping the triggers away even though it may meen exposing themselves to their own triggers.

I don't do negative anymore. Too much of that in my life. Been a loyal but not always faithful follower of SR since 09/ Recovery is more than sobriety I truely choose to be a man of peace. I am tired of hurt and damage I've done my share. But I do like a good laugh. Mostly get one if I look in the mirror. Another sober day can;t say much more.

Well since I only recently joined this awesome board, I'm really glad the climate changed before I got here. I don't do well w/ being bossed around and I'm too negative myself to take any more of it from other folks.

And yeah, if praying to the Spaghetti Monster helps you stay sober, then buono appetite, I say.

Guess I'm glad I wasn't here for the negativity too. I've found so much love and support here. I'm a pessimist who generally hates people (you'd never know it if ya met me), but honestly the world is so full of ignorance and ugliness, I'm happy to say the people I've met here give me faith I haven't had before.

I hate to admit this, but if I am secular (code word for athiest) and cannot stand the idea of AA, not because of the belief, I am just not a people person (more of a study at home dude).

But I have to admit, there is support then there is tough love.

Strong criticism can come off as negative, but then there is judgement based on real life experience.

I definitely error on the side of support, just stoking the conversion.

You crack me up Phoenix...

Find me a single-man-people-hater and I'm in. Wouldn't want to be a 3rd wheel
