I actually said this
I actually said this
I was very active here a few months back, got real busy, disappeared, drank, and now I am here to right the ship again.
Anyways, I said the other night, while out with my friends, that I needed this beer in my hand, and I cannot live without it. Unbelievable. What a waste of time that night ended up being. Waste of money, and waste of emotions over the past few days.
I don't need that in my life, and cannot live this way. I've gone to a few AA meetings, but I am the type of person that has trouble keeping up with one thing. On the other hand, unless I want to keep living this up and down life style, and keep risking life and limb, I need to commit.
"I need this in my life." One day I can look back a year and laugh at this.

Welcome back Loudog
That was your addiction talking - maybe you need to have good times with friends, maybe you need to find ways to relax - but you definitely don't need beer
I'm glad to hear you recognise the need to do more for your recovery.
I agree you'll need to learn to 'keep up' with things - I did too - but it's easier to do that when you acknowledge the alternative.

welcome back. we all say crazy things when we're drinking. if you commit to meetings and sobriety like you committed to drinking just think about what you can do! that's what i had to realize to get on the right path.
also, about your new drinks, i work at a place with a juice bar. we serve a drink with all that and a little lemon as well. we call it our Hot off the Press! it's my favorite drink!

That was your AV (addictive voice) talking, loudog. I think it would help you a lot to learn to recognize that voice for what it is: basically the voice of your addiction, lying to you.
Hey Lou, great to see you! The day I got to a year I didn't laugh, I cried because I was so grateful that I decided to stop a year earlier. It still seems like a miracle. Get there any way you can - meetings, whatever, just stop punishing yourself.
