Day 1
Day 1
Hi guys. I just need to hold on and get thru the day. This is day one again today and oh gosh do I need some words of support. If I can just get thru this day and keep on then maybe I can beat this. I plan on exercising today, really getting off my butt and getting out there. Anyone have any thoughts suggestions for me to stay away from the bottle? Just today just today have to focus. Sorry rambling but any words of support are so appreciated. Three weeks ago I picked up a drink after doing so well. Now I can't stop. Why does this problem even exist? I hate it with a passion.
My suggestion is to change your routine today. Do something else during the times you would have been drinking, take a different route home, shop at a different store. It can help you to get through the early days.
exercising is good, don't over do it.
write a journal. read a book. listen to xa-speakers.org
make a list of things you like to do, things you need to do, and just things that were put off and get busy
I'm rooting for you! You can get through today!

It's my first day too...
It is my first day too and am thinking the same things that you are. I hate the problem but love the booze. Exercise and activity is something that does help me spend my days sober. Getting out there and busy is great! Hang in there. I will be thinking about you today.

Congratulations on day one.
What works for me, is to think that first drink through to the end and the misery and suffering it will brring with it.
Try not to dwell one drinking. Exercising is great. Stay on SR. post as often as you need to. Eat some healthy food. Go to an AA meeting.
Do anything but drink. Drinking is now your enemy and you can beat it. Do whatever it takes.
If you spend the time you did procurring alcohol, imbibing it and recovering from it into getting sober, you can't go wrong.
Best to you and keep us posted..

Everything you do is your own choice. Believe in free will.
If you don't want to drink, you don't have to.
Ignore that part of your brain that has turned against you. Follow what you want to do.
You'll make it. Just make sure you remember who you are. Don't let it take over
