4 weeks!
Morning everyone
I'ts 4 weeks today since I last drank.I feel better mentally, emotionally and sleeping better.I had numbness, mood swings and irritability at 2/3weeks which has eased. I hope people earlier on in the journey take comfort that it really does get better
My only gripe is that I've not lost any weight on the scales although my clothes feel looser and my face looks less bloated.Ah well today I shall stop eating as much ice cream
Thanks to everyone on here for all your support over the last 4 weeks

Way to go JHE! Congratulations!!
I only lost a little bit of weight and that was from being really strict with what I ate. You may well be losing inches even if the weightloss is minimal
I have a link to a Zumba routine if you'd like, it doesn't appear to be getting much use here LOL
Enjoy your day and be proud of yourself!

Thanks everyone
I'm off to the gym today-will try and go 3-4 times a week
The problem with ice cream is that I say to myself 'oh you don't drink anymore-you deserve a treat' I have no answer to THAT voice other than 'oh ok'!!

I am almost four weeks sober, and far from 100 percent.
I guess there's some really ugly stuff going on when drinking - the sweats, insomnia, internal spikes of pain, and being absolutely lost in the darkness of not knowing what you're doing (IE trying to quit but not).
Money has also improved. I didn't spend so much on booze as I did on junk food the next day to calm the hang over. Now I cook all my meals, it's definitely a step up.
There are also genuinely fun activities to partake in where being drunk you would not have been able too.
Also, no soar throat or ears ringing from listening to too much music through the headphones.
But yeah, I still have plenty of other withdrawal symptoms. I guess the feeling that I'm hung over in the mornings is probably the most prominent. I don't know if you had that in the first week, but I'm certainly looking forward to it's departure.

Hi Tim
Congrats on nearly 4 weeks too
I had physical withdrawals but these passed after a few days, except headaches which took longer to go
I still feel very groggy in the mornings and it takes a while for me to come round-I put this down to the depth of sleep I'm now having. Also perhaps dehydration as I drink so much water all day then nothing from 10-7
Good on you for eating better.Maybe some exercise would help you Tim,even just a walk-I find this really helps me

Well done on 4 weeks JHE!!
And at 4 weeks lots of ice cream is still totally acceptable! I have found that as time goes on and I get used to taking care of myself properly I find it easier to make healthier choices. I'm not saying I do that exactly...just that there is a glimmer of hope that I will eventually
Be proud of your achievement x
Oh, and @TimW...my hangover feelings lasted a few months. I saw it as one last hangover It does get better x

Hey ice cream is much better than booze... anytime anywhere! I think i'll go have an oreo klondike bar now after reading your post... Well done on four weeks... it will just keep getting better!
Congratulations! You are a good role model for me. I am at day 18 - still get headaches, and still have a cup of water by my bed for when I| wake up at night feeling dehydrated. I have only lost a couple of pounds (1 a week), but I have lost the puffiness on my face, and the feeling of being bloated. "This too shall pass". Have a great evening.
