Trigger Issue, Re-living my attack.
Trigger Issue, Re-living my attack.
I have to go speak with a detective today regarding my sexual assault that happened a week and a half ago. I am starting to feel very anxious because I will have to re-live what happened. I have been able to block it out the past week for rhe most part, but I know this is something that I will struggle with. I also know that after this interview, there will be an intense urge to drink. I am on day 11, so I definitely don't want to compromise what I have been working so hard to acheive...sobriety. I just had to get this out. It is going to be one hell of a day. Thanks for listening.

Hi Dominica-
Can you go to an AA meeting right after ? or call someone else with long term sobriety ?
Anxiety, stress were always my triggers too, now just need to develop new coping mechanisms...

TG,
The next AA meeting after noon is at 6:30, it is birthday night tonight so it will be a 2 hour meeting. I have to go take care of my grandma immediately after, so I should be keeping busy as to not stumble across a bar room. Thanks.

What about a sponsor? A trusted friend? Is there a woman liaison police officer? It will also be emotional for your daughter. I wish there was someone who could be strong for you. Are you able to phone anyone in AA you can meet up with straight afterwards?

Glad it went well, Dom...you are a tough cookie.
I was a sexual assault crisis volunteer/victim advocate for seven years and for sure in most jurisdictions there is not enough support for SA survivors. I'm so glad they're working with you.
