Day 5 - A Poem about Addiction
A valley called Addiction
No longer glowed the sky at night
No rising dawns or sun so bright
I still felt though what I did was right
As I walked thorough a valley called Addiction
The hills alive with mist and rain
All numbed and dead along with my pain
A beer soaked table and trouser stains
As I walked through a valley called Addiction
Old warehouses moan and creak
While hours become days and pass as weeks
Wanting so much but I never could seek
As I walked through the valley called Addiction
Grey Buildings around me as I walked those streets
Hating the people I’d never meet
Cursing the ground beneath my feet
As I walked through the valley called Addiction
Those streets once full of beautiful light
Somehow turned to darkness and dimmed out of sight
It never felt strange, it still felt so right
As I walked through a valley called addiction
The sun tried to rise – it filled us with fear
We reach for a bottle ‘til it disappears
Ensuring the fog and the mist around here
As I walked through the valley called Addiction
Key tasks and spin as the place lies in gloom
While preachers predict that we are all doomed
A valley which traps us in cold darkened tombs
As I walked through a valley called Addiction
