Recovery Is No Excuse For Stupidy
Recovery Is No Excuse For Stupidy
So today I was so aware and like I would do sobriety like a normal person so I was like outside saying howdy to people and trying to seem normal but how does aqnyone say howdy and seem normal? So I came in and being a sober person I decided to lay down, than panicked when I couldn't find my glasses, found them when I steped on them, my point being I used to blame it on being drunk, now just clutsy

Sorry about those glasses, Fitz. I was just saying the other day that I used to think I dreaded certain chores because alcohol/hangovers made me lazy. Well, the booze is gone, and it turns out I just dread certain chores, pure and simple...
So can you explain to me what, exactly, is a normal person? Because I'm not sure I've ever met one. I'm re-reading Marcus Aurelius' writings right now. Roman Emperor, philosopher-king, beloved in his own time and right on down through the ages.... and yet the man was plagued by self-doubt and self-criticism at every turn.
You felt self-conscious. You felt different. That's pretty darn normal. Human beings are a mess; the best we can hope for is a kind of weirdly beautiful mess.

(((Fitz))) - I am a Klutz (with a capital K), and have done more things that I consider "stupid" in recovery than when I was using...like falling down the steps and being unconcsious for a few hours a little over a month ago.
I'm glad you were out and talking to people. I'm a people person, and I've met some pretty remarkable people over the years.
Hugs and prayers,
Amy

...hey Fitz I have been clumsy in sobriety and have fallen down...broken things...AND stepped on my glasses before...stone cold sober. I think the times these incidents have happened my body was out of align/out of balance and currently I am working on my physical health by going to the doctor...maybe after that i will go check out some things...like diet and exercise that get my body more balanced?
Fitz I got so good at stepping on my glasses while drunk I would slip them under the sofa or bed so wouldn't crush them in the morning...now it's habit, I've had the same pair for years! I'm a clutz too!
I like pie.
I also have no hair and bald men bang their heads...a lot.
When I was about three months sober, I was working in the cellar and clocked my noggin a good one. A three inch scrape, blood, everything. My lovely bride's words of consolation were, "Jesus, Charlie! Everybody will think you were sh*t faced!"

I'm glad you understand that you are powerless over pie and your pie eating habits have become unmanageable.
be aware one piece of pie is never enough. First you eat the pie then the sugary goodness will eat you!
Yesterday I nicked the tip of my middle finger with the chain saw. No dammage, just a scratch. Had I been drinking it would have been because I was drunk - not. The absolute stupidist thing I ever did was when I was ston cold sober. Life is life.
