Time for a therapist???
Hi Carly,
While I'm still struggling with alcohol and relationship issues (as well as depression), therapy has been the best thing I've done for myself in a while. I really look forward to it every week, and I highly recommend it. Try it out, you can always choose not to go back if you don't connect with your therapist.

Thank you SnowDaisy...I know Im not right in the head...I do have medical issues that could account for that, but that doesn't mean I have to take it lying down. I wanna talk to someone...I wanna be heard!

Therapy definitely sounds like it might be helpful for you. It helps to talk things out with another person. They usually see a different side of things than you do. I am really hoping to go to therapy, I think it would be very helpful to me, but I can't afford it right now. Maybe next year. But if you're thinking about it, try one session and see how it goes from there. Hope it helps!
I hope therapy will help you move fwd Carly
I found I had to work on my underlying issues for sure- but I had to work on my alcoholism too - working on one didn't necessarily mean the other was fixed for me - I had to work on them both.
Did you decide against AA in the end?
There are other recovery groups around - here's some links to some of the main players, including but not limited to AA :

I recommend you visit the Secular Connections forum if you think you may benefit from a non 12 step approach.

It may help you a lot.
What have you done in the past as a program of recovery?
