Suboxone/Methadone

Hi everyone, I'm still in the middle of this battle. A couple weeks ago I came off the opiates with the help of suboxone and was successful until the following week when i was prescribed vicodin-then I started taking the subs and the vicodin. Fast forward-I ran out of both, started withdrawal and relapsed on the opiates.

A friend gave me 1 10mg methadone on Saturday morning, then .25 at 9:00pm and another .25 at 2:00am this morning.

I have one suboxone left and I'm wondering when i can take it. I was planning on weaning with the methadone, I had 10 more, but the stuff scares me to death and I flushed it.

I have four phone calls in to different doctors/addiction specialists to see if I can get seen and on a program with a doctor. I know I need medical supervision and I need to quit playing doctor.

I'm just curious if I only took that small amount of methadone, do I need to wait like 3 days before starting the suboxone? I'm hoping one of the doctors calls me back and I'll find out from him what's best.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences.

Hi Cali. I'm confused.....you were taking the Suboxone AND Vicodin?? That's quite counter-productive....and both are opiates, so long as you were taking Vics, you didn't relapse, you weren't actually off them anyway. You mentioned nothing of how much of anything you were taking besides the Methadone, which you shouldn't be switching to if you're already on Subs. No one can give you actual medical advice here or tell you anything other than what you already know - which is stop playing doctor and get a doctor. Methadone is not something for people to play with, or self-medicate with...it's stronger than a lot of other drugs and has a higher potential for disaster and negative drig-interaction with other opiates. It can be in your system for more than 72 hours, and you're supposed to be in full withdrawal before introducing another drug like that. If you're trying to wean off, then mixing those 3 things is not going to make it happen....you need to be on one or the other, and I can say, as well as others will, Methadone is not something you easily wean off...Subs are far easier to taper on. But again, you need to not be mixing all those drugs unless you're trying to end up in the hospital or dead. Don't start Methadone if you have no reason to, it's the polar opposite of Methadone in a sense of how they interact - which is not well at all, unless you enjoy painful precipitated withdrawal. Good luck.

Well you already know you have to stop playing Dr so that is good. I know giving medical advise is a no no so I am not even gonna try. What I will say is I had a friend who was in the same position and they got a Dr, and he put him in a medical detox where the qualified staff could monitor him. I know lots of people who have found 24 hr care a miracle.
Good luck on your journey.
